Your Neighborhood Roofing Contractor in Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburgh is the seat of Allegheny County and Pennsylvania's second-largest city. Its 2020 census population was 302,971, estimated at 307,632 as of 2025. The Allegheny and Monongahela rivers meet here to form the Ohio River, at Point State Park.
Point State Park is a National Historic Landmark known locally as "The Point." Pittsburgh addresses use ZIP codes starting with 152. Neighborhoods span from Downtown (15222) and Oakland (15213) to Shadyside (15232) and Lawrenceville (15201).
TriState Home Consulting Group is a PA HIC registered #PA203687 roofing contractor serving Pittsburgh and all of Allegheny County. We bring the same honest work and real craftsmanship to every job — a single repair or a full replacement.
We work two ways. Retail jobs are for Pittsburgh homeowners who know what they want and need it done right the first time. Insurance claims are for storm-damaged properties, where we document the damage and press the carrier for what the policy owes.
Both jobs get the same experienced crew, the same materials, and the same commitment from first nail to final cleanup. Whatever your roof situation, we'll come out and get on top of it. You'll get a straight answer — free, with no pressure and no gimmicks.
Why Pittsburgh Roofs Take a Beating Year-Round
Pittsburgh sits on the Allegheny Plateau, in a stretch of western Pennsylvania with repeated freeze-thaw cycling through the winter. A cold snap drops snow or ice, a thaw follows, and meltwater refreezes overnight. The cycle repeats for weeks, working moisture into any compromised joint.
Every cycle forces shingles loose from their adhesive strip. Spring and summer bring a different threat: Ohio Valley storm tracks funnel severe thunderstorms into the Pittsburgh area. Those systems can produce damaging straight-line wind and hail.
Homeowners frequently tell us they had "no idea" there was storm damage. The evidence is subtle: granule in gutters, bruising on shingles under raking light, or shingles assumed to be just loose. Pittsburgh's terrain adds a wrinkle most cities don't deal with.
Neighborhoods like Mount Washington, Polish Hill, and the South Side Slopes are built directly onto steep hillsides. Pittsburgh has more than 800 sets of public outdoor staircases, totaling over 45,000 steps. They exist because the grades are too steep for a street.
That same terrain makes it harder for a homeowner to get eyes on their own roof. Damage can go unnoticed for longer than it would on a flat lot.
Was your home in the path of a storm in the past twelve months? A free inspection costs nothing and documents the damage while it is still fresh.
Roofing Services We Provide in Pittsburgh, PA
Our work in Pittsburgh covers the full range of residential roofing, sized to the city's housing stock and terrain. That includes historic rowhouse neighborhoods on the North Side, hillside homes with limited roof access, and everything in between.
Asphalt shingle replacement is our most common job. It includes complete tear-off of the failed system and inspection of every deck board. We replace any rot or damage found, then install synthetic underlayment and manufacturer-backed shingles with a certified crew.
We also handle targeted asphalt repairs: missing courses, failed valley systems, and step flashing failures around chimneys. On Pittsburgh's hillside properties, we plan access and staging around the terrain before we ever touch a shingle.
Beyond asphalt, we install and repair metal roofing systems — standing seam, corrugated, and metal shingles. It's a practical long-term option for homeowners who want efficient snow shedding and lower upkeep, especially on steep-pitch hillside homes.
Pittsburgh's historic North Side neighborhoods, including the Mexican War Streets and Manchester Historic District, are filled with Victorian-era rowhouses. Many were built between the 1840s and 1900, and have original slate roofing.
We handle that work with matching sourcing and preservation-conscious repair.
We also install seamless aluminum gutter systems and gutter guards sized for Pittsburgh's tree coverage and freeze-thaw cycles. Every exterior project starts with a free inspection and a detailed written estimate before a single nail is driven.
Storm Damage Insurance Claims in Pittsburgh
Insurance claim work is a significant part of what we do in Pittsburgh and across Allegheny County. It's where TriState's approach makes the biggest difference for homeowners.
When a hail or wind event hits Pittsburgh, your carrier sends an adjuster, who produces an estimate. That estimate is typically low, leaving you to figure out whether the number is fair. It almost never is.
The first adjuster estimate routinely misses line items and uses outdated material pricing. It applies depreciation arguments that don't survive scrutiny and ignores matching provisions for discontinued shingle lines. We've seen it hundreds of times, and we know exactly how to push back.
When TriState handles your Pittsburgh storm claim, we build a complete supplement from scratch. Every hail impact and wind lift gets documented by photograph and measurement. Every damaged component gets identified by material and quantity.
We work with Erie, Allstate, State Farm, Progressive, USAA, Nationwide, and Farmers — plus every other carrier writing PA policies. Pittsburgh homeowners routinely recover significantly more than the initial adjuster estimate after we get involved.
You pay your deductible. We handle the rest of the process.
About Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburgh was founded in 1758, when British forces under General John Forbes took the strategic point at the river confluence. This came after French troops burned and abandoned Fort Duquesne. The British built Fort Pitt on the site and named the settlement for William Pitt.
That same triangular point of land is now Point State Park, a National Historic Landmark completed in 1974. Pittsburgh's downtown core — the Golden Triangle — is bounded by the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers.
Those rivers converge to form the Ohio. The city's terrain is defined by the Allegheny Plateau. Elevations range from roughly 710 feet at the rivers to over 1,100 feet on the hilltops.
Those elevations give neighborhoods like Mount Washington their sweeping views and steep, narrow streets. The city is served by Pittsburgh Public Schools, established in 1835. A nine-member elected Board of Public Education governs the district.
The district serves the City of Pittsburgh and the Borough of Mount Oliver. Three interstates connect the region: I-376 (the Penn-Lincoln Parkway), I-279 (Parkway North), and I-79.
I-376 runs east-west through downtown to Pittsburgh International Airport. I-279 links downtown to the northern suburbs. I-79 runs north-south along the city's western edge.
