Austintown is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Mahoning County, with 29,594 people at the 2020 census. It lies directly west of Youngstown and is a suburb in the Youngstown-Warren metropolitan area. The community takes up slightly less than half of Austintown Township, largely on the eastern side where it meets the Youngstown city line. Coal miners and their families pushed the township population to 2,502 by 1880.
