Broadview Heights is a city of 19,936 in southern Cuyahoga County, a suburb of Cleveland. It covers 13.05 square miles of land at roughly 1,191 feet. The area was settled in 1811 as part of what was then Brecksville Township, and it incorporated as its own village on December 17, 1926. Population growth shown in the 1960 census moved it up to city status.

Harris took office as the first mayor of Broadview Heights in 1927. The current City Hall campus was purchased by the city in 1996.
