Champion Township is one of the twenty-four townships of Trumbull County, with 9,381 people at the 2020 census. It sits in the western part of the county at roughly 958 feet. No municipalities lie inside the township, though the community of Champion Heights sits in its south. General Henry Champion owned the whole township by December 1798, and it carries his name.

Henry Champion sold few of his parcels, holding out for the price to rise from $2.50 an acre to $10.00. The first lasting settler was William Rutan, who arrived from Pennsylvania in 1806.
