Garrettsville is a village of 2,449 people in northeastern Portage County, part of the Akron metropolitan area. It covers 2.51 square miles of land inside a total area of 2.53 square miles, at roughly 1,001 feet. The village was formed from portions of Hiram, Nelson, Freedom and Windham townships in the Western Reserve. Colonel John Garrett III bought the original 300 acres in 1803.
