Lisbon is a village of 2,597 people and the county seat of Columbiana County, founded in 1803 along Little Beaver Creek. It covers 1.69 square miles, all of it land, at roughly 1,014 feet, about 25 miles southwest of Youngstown. The village was platted as New Lisbon after Lisbon, Portugal and took its shorter name in 1895. Ohio's first newspaper, The Ohio Patriot, was founded here.
