About Rootstown, OH

Rootstown Township is one of the eighteen civil townships of Portage County, with 8,602 people at the 2020 census. It covers 26.4 square miles at roughly 1,066 feet in the southwestern part of the county, and no municipalities lie inside it. It borders Ravenna Township to the north, Edinburg Township to the east, Randolph Township to the south and Brimfield Township to the west. The township was formed from the Connecticut Western Reserve.

The Rootstown Post Office was established in 1821 and continues today. It is the only Rootstown Township in the state.
