About Wheatland, PA

Wheatland was incorporated as a borough on February 12, 1872. It grew up along the Shenango River and was tied closely to the valley's steel and manufacturing economy — Sharon Tube and the valley's mills gave generations of Wheatland families their living. The 2020 census put the borough's population at 583.

After residents voted in November 2022 to consolidate, Wheatland officially merged into the City of Hermitage on January 1, 2024. That ended its run as an independent borough. Even so, longtime residents still identify as Wheatland — the name and the neighborhood haven't gone anywhere.
