Roof Replacement Specialists in Pittsburgh, PA
When a Pittsburgh roof reaches end of life, or storm damage is too widespread to repair, TriState steps in. We deliver a complete, clean replacement — first nail to final walkthrough. We're IKO RoofPro certified and carry PA Home Improvement Contractor Registration PA203687.
No subcontractors, no shortcuts: the same crew that shows up on day one finishes the job.
Pittsburgh's housing stock spans a wide range of ages and terrain. That includes Victorian-era rowhouses in the North Side's Mexican War Streets and Manchester Historic District. It also includes homes on the steep hillsides of Mount Washington, Polish Hill, and the South Side Slopes.
Older neighborhoods frequently carry original slate or long-past-due asphalt. Hillside properties add a layer most contractors aren't equipped to handle well: narrow streets and limited staging. Access has to be planned before a ladder goes up.
Whatever the situation, TriState will get on your roof and inspect every surface honestly. You'll get a written estimate you can actually build a plan around.
What Drives Premature Roof Failure in Pittsburgh
The number one driver of premature asphalt shingle failure in Pittsburgh is freeze-thaw cycling. Through winter, daytime temperatures regularly rise above freezing before dropping back below freezing overnight. Every cycle works moisture deeper into the roof system.
Moisture infiltrates beneath shingles through a failed flashing joint, a cracked pipe boot, or granule loss at the tab edges. It then expands, works the shingle free from its adhesive strip, and accelerates the failure process. Damage usually builds for years before a homeowner notices lifted edges or attic daylight.
Hail and wind from Ohio Valley storm tracks are the second driver. Most asphalt shingles sustain some impact damage in a significant event, and the damage isn't always visible from the ground. It shows up as bruising and granule displacement that weakens the shingle mat and accelerates UV degradation.
On Pittsburgh's hillside homes, this damage is even easier to miss since a clear roof view is harder to get. TriState's free inspection will tell you exactly where your roof stands. If a claim makes sense, we can handle that too.
Our Replacement System for Pittsburgh Homes
Every TriState replacement starts with a full tear-off — we don't install over existing shingles. Overlays trap moisture, add weight, and prevent inspection of the deck. Once the old system is off, we inspect every deck board.
Any rotted or damaged sheathing is replaced before new material goes down. We install ice-and-water shield at all eaves (minimum 24 inches past the wall line), plus all valleys and penetrations. Synthetic felt underlayment goes down over the entire deck before shingles are installed.
We add new drip edge and properly lapped step flashing at every wall and chimney. IKO shingles go on per manufacturer requirements. On hillside properties, we plan material staging and debris removal around your property's access before we start.
At the end, we walk the job with you and answer every question before we leave.
Wondering why the number looks like that? We broke down why roofing costs so much these days. Materials, labor and insurance all moved at once.
